Lucky Duckling with Scholastic Canada

Even ducklings need to stay close to mom!!!

This was a fun story to read to the children who really enjoyed it.

After the story we made our own little ducklings to take home.

Our young winner was very happy with his prize for the day and wanted to read it one more time before he headed home.

Victoria Day fireworks and BBQ

The days of Victoria Day parades traveling with veterans in my husbands 1952 military jeep are long gone. With the addition of kids and momstown traditions changed in our family

I am not saying one is better then the other they all bring fond memories and traditions are made for memories, so isn't that what matters?

Since I opened momstown we have started many traditions with our family and our extended momstown family.  One of those traditions is our annual Victoria Day Pot Luck BBQ .  Often people will sign up a year ahead to avoid the wait list.

The day is filled full of fun no matter what your age.  I love how much the dads enjoy this event.  Our weekend events are for family and to see so many dads and grandparents join in the momstown fun just makes me smile.

Our backyard BBQ is a pot luck so everyone brings a yummy surprise we even had homemade sour dough buns this year that the kids were sneaking since they arrived hot out of the oven.  My husband and I supply hot dogs and sausages and the rest is pot luck fun. Stuffed mushrooms, fruit kabobs, stuffed potatoes, many varieties of salads and more all filled our bellies.  The desserts were so yummy they were gone before I could even get a picture

After we filled our bellies it was time to relax and play.  The bouncy house was always a hit and once our dinner had settled we had some more fun in the pool and hot tub.  Some chose just to relax and enjoy the beautiful day with new friends.

As the night started to set some of our babes headed home while some of the older children played had fun with sparklers.  For a few moms and kids it was their first time with a sparkler and I was pleased to be able to introduce them to this fun celebration.

A quick change into PJ's for the kids and then time to pull up a seat for the grand finale before we called it a night.  We even had 3D glasses to enjoy the fireworks display. So we didn't lose our little ones in the dark backyard some glow in the dark necklaces kept them in our sight. A great Victoria Day celebration with momstown Georgina and East Gwillimbury.  Now don't delay be sure to sign up for Canada Day Fireworks and BBQ it will fill up fast and it will be just as fun, maybe more ;)

momstown conference at Fern Resort

another late night of working while the kids sleep
Being a WAHM can be tough and its nice to have the support of other WAHM's.   Twice a year we look forward to reuniting with other momstown chapter owners for corporate training, a few surprises, advice, brainstorming, connecting and a lot of fun and laughs at our momstown conference

We have a buddy system and my buddy is momstown Brampton so be sure to pop by her blog and say hi.  I've enjoyed being teamed up with Tracy her hard work and dedication always shines through.  Her great sense of humour makes her a joy to be around and her big heart always there to offer me support is always welcomed.
Tracy doesn't stop tweeting the entire time
away watch for her by following

My team lead for York Region is momstown Oakville.  She became my team lead last year and her constant motivating emails can be just what I need to keep me going and helping me grow my business.

Of course I can't say enough about our corporate team, caring, encouraging and motivating us every step of the way.  Each and every chapter owner is a joy to be around and I look forward to heading back to Fern Resort our gracious host this weekend.

The countdown is on and as much as I am excited to be heading to the bi-annual conference. I also welcome the opportunity to change gears and relax a little at Fern Resort.  If you have not been there its a must see and great place to head to with the family.

Each year new faces join us at our conference as momstown.ca continues to grow, familiar ones reconnect.
Being in one great location for the four days of conference makes a huge difference in allowing us the time we need together  to grow, learn, relax, and lean in to assist each other.

Game On with Mattel in Georgina

When i found out we were going to have a game night with Mattel I was not sure what I thought about that. I am a card game person and never been much for board games but I posted on my calendar to let the games begin.

As the excitement grew through the weeks prior I got excited to. The moms in our chapter were so excited about out games night.  The night finally arrived and I set up the games with blankets over them so nobody knew what they were playing.

We had some real competitive moms in our group and I have to say even I enjoyed the games and didn't waste time posting our next mama Game On night.  You can sign up here if you are a member.

By the end of the night we had a large group of Mad Gab going on that got very competitive.  So much fun and in the end our winners where happy to shout out their victory and the other team was quick to ask for the rematch.

Mad Gab Fun....

and frustration

The names where drawn for the prizes and the funny thing was it was all the  members of the team that didn't win.

the other team was quick to jump into the picture to make sure they were not missed

and again

Have you checked out your Mattel Gameology yet?
I did, I'am Activius...
Activius - Activius is an agile and playful sort. Quick in thought and action,
Activius has a combination of intelligence and energy that makes them fun to play
with and a challenge to play against. They have great physical prowess and balance
and enjoy games that require their hands. You'll need to be on your toes, sometimes literally, if you go against an Activius.

Thank-you Mattel for starting this momstown Georgina and East Gwillimbury monthly Game On moms night out.

A surprise on Linked In

Today I received a surprise on Linked In.  Do you know what your husband thinks of your efforts as a business women?  I thought I did but I never realized how much he really saw in my hard work and efforts.

My husband and I met at work and have always had a deep respect for what each other does for a living but I have to say this came as a pleasant surprise.  I am pleased to know this is what he really thinks of my hard work and efforts with my business. (Often run between school bus pick ups, temper tantrums, homework and dinner prep).

Maybe from time to time we need to step back from life and appreciate each other just a little more.  Have you done that lately?

My husband and I got married in 2005 , 2006 and 2008 our children were born . In 2009 I opened up our local momstown chapter to stay home with our kids.  Somewhere in there we lost a little bit of us.

Sometimes people can cloud your true vision of what your dreams are, of where you started and why.  Every once in awhile you need to step back and reconnect with your dreams and your partner.  Date night should be a must have not a nice to have when it fits into the schedule. We are realizing that this life is ours and nobody should get in our way. Our family is our family and we make the decisions, everybody else has opinions.

Today I received the following message in my email that was posted by my husband, reminding me that we are and always will be a great team... ..

Kim wears many hats and wears them all well! She is currently the owner of momstown Georgina and East Gwillimbury chapter, is an active member of the Georgina and East Gwillimbury Chambers of Commerce, sits on a school parent council, and volunteers at multiple events in the region.

She has recently added Creator, Community Producer and Co-Host of mommy talk at Rogers TV Georgina to her wardrobe of hats!

After we moved to Georgina in 2005 and our daughter was born the next year, she experienced, first hand, the disconnected offerings of support, business and social services for families, moms to be, new moms and children. She transferred these experiences, connections, and knowledge gained from this into a full time passion.

She is tirelessly promotes connecting moms, kids, and the businesses that serve them in an effort to improve the quality of life for every mom, kid, family in Georgina and East Gwillimbury.

mommy talk extends the reach for spreading this message. Many of the lives that Kim has connected have spawned friendships that are sure to last a lifetime. The social connections have removed the modern societal isolation and built a new community of support and friendship. The business connections and support that Kim has nurtured have encouraged the effort to live and shop locally in Georgina and East Gwillimbury.

Many moms have also followed Kim's lead and started their own businesses to follow their dreams too and have more and better quality of time with their families.

Georgina and East Gwillimbury sure would be a different place for many people without Kim
